MARGAO
Around 50 persons, including UK returned passengers and their contacts are still housed in the Margao ESI institutional quarantine centre, even as the seven persons have been discharged as their tests from Pune have come negative for the mutant strain.
The good news is that the results of three more UK returned persons have come negative on Thursday and the trio are expected to be discharged from the hospital on Friday.
While one UK returned passenger was discharged on Wednesday, six more persons of the Institutional quarantine were discharged on Thursday, taking the number of persons housed in the ESI, Margao to seven.
ESI Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr Vishwajit Faldesai informed that the remaining 50 persons will remain in quarantine at the hospital till their tests reports are received from Pune.
“All these 50 persons, including those who returned from the UK and their contacts have been tested for the Covid mutant strain virus. Till their reports come from Pune, they will remain in quarantine at the ESI hospital,” Dr Faldesai said.
Salcete Mamlatdar Prataprao Gaonkar informed that all the persons, who had landed in Goa from UK and hailing from Salcete taluka, have been quarantined at the ESI hospital.
“Initially, we had the problem to securing these persons to the institutional quarantine, but these persons complied with the government decision after we were forced to issue a threat to seize their passports,” he said.
A father-daughter duo had created a flutter at the ESI hospital earlier this week after they left the hospital premises to their home at Shiroda, before the duo returned home after the authorities threatened to invoke provisions of the IPC for violating section 144 of the CrPC.
