7-month foetus found in VMC garbage bin

VALPOI
In a shocking incident, a seven-month-old male foetus was found in a garbage bin at Valpoi on Saturday.

According to Valpoi police, the incident came to light when Valpoi Municipal Council (VMC) workers had collected garbage from bins around the garden area. “We had, as usual, collected garbage from all bins in the municipal area at around 11 am. As work to segregate the garbage began, we found something wrapped in a red cloth and we were startled to find a foetus inside the cloth,” said a municipal worker.

The Valpoi police was notified and a police team led by PSI Karishma Parulekar conducted the panchanama and took possession of the body.

PSI Parulekar said investigations are in progress to identify those who had abandoned the foetus in the garbage bin. “We have obtained some clues and we are hopeful of arresting the accused,” said PSI Parulekar.

A case has been registered against unknown persons.
