OLD GOA
Some of the activists who attended the meeting organised by RGP MLA Viresh Borkar to oppose the Nauxim marina project have expressed resentment over the utterances made by RGP chief Manoj Parab against the activists.
“At the meeting, he issued a warning against the activists that if they speak out against the RGP in the future, he would expose them at the very same platform and in front of everybody,” activist Anthony D’Silva informed.
“First of all, let me tell Parab that the meeting was organised by MLA Viresh Borkar and not by RGP. If the meeting was organised by RGP I would not have spoken,” D’Silva said.
He then advised Parab not to issue such warnings at the meetings of RGP.
“Secondly, I had gone there as a participant and not as a speaker. And I was told to speak by the organisers due to which I spoke,” D’Silva informed and stated that in the future, he would have to think twice before attending any more meetings against the Nauxim marina project organised by MLA Viresh Borkar.
“I am not a person who would tolerate insults after being invited to speak,” he added.
Another activist Mariano Ferrao also took cudgels against Parab and informed that he had no right to target the activists as the meeting was organised by RGP MLA Viresh Borkar and not RGP.
“If RGP had organised the meeting, we would never have participated in the same,” Ferrao informed.
Further, speaking on Parab’s statement that the activists should bring at least 10 supporters with them at the next meet, Ferrao said, “It is not about the numbers but the effective way that the message is sent to the powers that be.”
