Alina lashes out at sarpanch for calling for her resignation

VASCO

Cortalim MLA Alina Saldanha on Monday said the statements of Cansaulim-Arossim-Cuelim Sarpanch Jose Maria Furtado, demanding her resignation at a public awareness meet in Arossim to oppose the SWR double-tracking project, had been irresponsible.

“On the double-tracking issue or for that matter, on any issue pertaining to the people of my constituency, my sincerity and commitment are beyond any question or doubt,” said Saldanha in a press note.

"However, I doubt the sincerity of the Cansaulim sarpanch to the people’s cause, for demanding my resignation as an MLA. Such relayed instigations are aimed at taking away the right bestowed upon me by the people of my constituency to represent them thereby weakening the cause. These are the Judases of the people’s causes!" said Saldanha.

"With respect to developmental works in Cortalim constituency, it is obvious that the same sarpanch has not yet awoken from his slumber as my works are there for all to see.”

Stating that these works are too many to mention in a press note, the Cortalim MLA said she would soon shall send this list to the sarpanch concerned, “with the hope that he too will follow suit and take up works both at his ward and the Panchayat levels which he has not done till date.”
