The by-election for three wards in three village panchayats of Verla-Canca, Bastora and Oxel in Bardez taluka will be held on Saturday from 8 am onwards.
A total of eight candidates “ three each in Verla-Canca and Bastora and two in Oxel “ will contest the by-election in the three panchayats.
Two former sarpanchas and a daughter of a former sarpanch are in the fray.
A total of 1,471 voters “ 317 in Oxel, 644 in Verla-Canca and 510 in Bastora panchayat “ are eligible to cast their vote in the by-election.
The administration has made all arrangements to conduct smooth and peaceful polling in the three wards of the panchayats.
Voting will be held in a single booth in all the three panchayats “ government primary school (Chopdem, Oxel-Siolim), Sacred Heart High School (Verla) and government primary school (Boa Vista, Bastora). The counting of votes will be taken up on March 22.
