On the occasion of International Day for Persons with Disabilities, the two Caritas Centres for Deafblind organised an exposure visit at a farm in Sankhali and an event in Margao which involved children of Multipurpose School interacting with children with deafblindness and involved in various fun games and activities.
As part of the exposure visit, an outing for the 118 deafblind service users, their families and staff of North Goa at Sharvaraj Farm, Sankhali. The children and parents were happy to come out of their homes and socialise with other children and parents.
The children were reluctant to come out of the pool and wanted to continue having fun as this was the first time they have been out of their homes and enjoy their time in a different environment.
All of them later enjoyed the rain dance along with music where they danced and sang songs under the pouring waters. This was the first outing in almost two years due to Covid.
The Caritas Centre for Deafblind, South Goa, celebrated International day for Persons with Disabilities with students of Std 9 From Multipurpose High School.
To mark this day, a small programme was conducted with a few fun activities, games, and a MasterChef Competition was organised, where one child from Multipurpose High School teamed up with a child with deafblindness to prepare some tasty snacks.
It was the first time that students of Multipurpose school interacted with children with deafblindness and also got an opportunity to know the different challenges the deafblind face. They were eager to come and engage in activities with the deafblind on a regular basis in the future.
At both celebrations, students, parents and adults with deafblindness were told about the importance of International Day for Persons with Disabilities and also about inclusion, accessibility, and sustainability of persons with disabilities in the society which was the theme for this year’s celebrations.
