PONDA
There was a keen fight to establish supremacy in Ponda taluka and the BJP managed to edge past the MGP by winning in four of the seven ZP seats, with the MGP successful in the other three ZP seats.
While the BJP won in the Betki-Khandola, Usgao-Ganje, Borim and Shiroda ZP constituencies, the MGP candidates triumphed in the Curti-Khandepar, Kavlem and Marcaim ZP constituencies.
USGAO-GANJE ZP
It was a straight straight fight between BJP and Congress, but BJP candidate Umakant Gaude defeated Congress candidate Mukund Gaude by 2088 votes to win the Usgao-Ganje ZP seat. Umakant Gaude secured 4,534 votes, while Mukund Gaude polled 2,246 votes. As many as 311 votes were declared invalid.
BETKI-KHANDOLA ZP
BJP candidate Shramesh Bhosle won the Betki-Khandola ZP election, polling 4,768 votes and narrowly defeating MGP canndidate Vishwajeet Naik by a mere 276 votes. While Naik secured 4,492 votes, the independent candidate Nonu Naik could secure only 700 votes and 125 were rejected as invalid votes.
CURTI-KHANDEPAR ZP
The Curti-Khandepar ZP seat was reserved for women and MGP candidate Priya Chari defeated BJP candidate Sanjana Naik by 755 votes. While Chari polled 4,452 votes, Naik was able to secure 3,697 votes and independent candidate, Prachi Naik, got 1,808 votes and 254 votes were declared invalid.
MARCAIM ZP
The Marcaim ZP constituency was a prestigious seat for Marcaim MLA Sudin Dhavlikar as MGP candidate Ganpat Naik faced competition from former Talaulim deputy sarpanch Sudesh Bhingui (independent), BJP's Jairaj Naik and independent candidate Gurudas Naik. Ganpat Naik eventually won the Marcaim ZP constituency by massive margin of 3,156 votes after securing 5,557 votes, followed by Bhingui (2,401), Gurudas Naik (1,268), BJP's Jairaj Naik (1,147) and independent candidate Prakash Naik (519). Incidentally, the BJP candidate came fourth in the election, while 142 votes were declared invalid.
VELING-PRIOL ZP
MGP candidate Damodar Naik won the Veling-Priol ZP election by polling 5,614 votes, defeating BJP candidate Shivaram Naik (3210) win a margin of 2,204 votes. Independent candidates Samir Naik (894) and Shailesh Naik (355) did not make much of an impact and 152 were rejected as invalid.
BORIM ZP
Former Bethora sarpanch Punam Samant gave a close fight to BJP's Deepak Naik Borkar in Borim polls, but lost by a mere 496 votes. Borkar secured 2,459 votes while Samant polled 1,963 votes. MGP's Baburao Salelkar finished third with 1,646 votes, while independent candidates Vitthal Borkar (672), Dinesh Borkar (336), Dnyaneshwar Khandeparkar (263), and Kumud Gaude (129) failed to do any major damage.
SHIRODA ZP
BJP's Narayan Kamat won the Shiroda ZP election by a margin of 1,567 votes.Kamat secured 4,099 votes, while MGP's Manuel Cruze (2532) and independent candidates Richard Colaco (1,354) and Joaquim Gomes (657) trailed far behind and 194 votes were declared invalid.
