PANAJI
With less international tourists but a lot of inflow of domestic tourists, the tourism industry in Goa is getting back on track in the state.
With the tourists from states like Gujarat, Delhi, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, and Kerala coming in large numbers, the popular beaches and tourist places are seen crowded during the weekends.
As these tourists prefer travelling in their own vehicles or self-driven rented vehicles they can be seen on roads around the state, especially in coastal areas.
The casinos are also attracting many of these tourists. The tourists have been seen in huge numbers at Panaji Church. Beaches of Calangute, and Baga Beach, Arambol, and Morjim beaches were highly crowded with tourists this weekend.
There is fear among locals that these domestic tourists are not following the social distancing norms.
The state has increased the fine for not wearing masks in public places. The Corporation of the City of Panaji has recently launched a drive to fine tourists roaming without masks.
The number of tourists is expected to rise at the year-end. There is no EDM festival happening this year but many Christmas and New Year parties have been organised to attract tourists.
