Officials from the district administration and mining companies on Friday inspected the various mining pits in Bicholim which could pose a danger during the monsoon.
District Collector Mamu Hage, Deputy Collector Deepak Vaingankar, Mamlatdar Laxmikant Kuttikar, WRD Assistant Engineer Naresh Pokle, Siddharth Shirodkar, Vivek Parab, Sudhir Mandrekar of Mines Department, Mahadev Naik of PWD and officials of various mining companies were present. After inspecting the various mining pits in Kudne, Sakhali, Shirgao, Lamgao, Poira, Bicholim and Mulgao, the district collector instructed authorities and mining companies to undertake necessary measures to avoid hazards.
Officials of different companies present during the inspection assured full cooperation to the district administration. “We inspected various mining sites and also reviewed the overall situation. Immediate security measures have been ordered, where necessary,” said Bicholim Deputy Collector Deepak Vaigankar.
