A decomposed body of a 75-year-old woman was found inside a house in Bastora, Mapusa Police said.
Police have registered the case as unnatural death.
Police rushed to the site after locals informed that a foul smell was emanating from the house late Sunday evening.
Police broke open the door and found the decomposed body of the woman.
The deceased was identified as Sukanti Kudnekar. According to neighbours, the woman was staying alone at home while her daughter and son-in-law were staying next door.
PSI Richa Bhosle and Head Constable Sushant Chopdekar rushed at the spot and conducted the panchanama formalities.
The body was then shifted to the Goa Medical College and Hospital, Bambolim for post mortem.
