Sancoale Independent Zilla Panchayat candidate Achut Naik on Wednesday said voters would show that dedication and loyalty to party work can outweigh political influence.
He was interacting with voters at Marathi Camp, Zuarinagar, during his door-to-door campaign, where he spoke about his long association with the area and his journey as a grassroots worker.
He said the election was an opportunity for people to decide whether local leadership should be based on consistent work or political backing.
“Many believe elections are won only with money power or a godfather. I am confident that the people here will prove that a loyal party worker can be elected through trust and years of hard work,” Naik said.
He said his campaign focused on listening to issues rather than making unrealistic promises. Residents raised concerns related to roads, drainage, sanitation, drinking water and the need for stronger follow-up of development works at the Zilla Panchayat level.
“I have stayed connected with this area even when there were no elections. I know the problems people face because I have lived among them and worked with them,” Naik said.
Naik said the response from residents at Marathi Camp was encouraging and reflected a growing desire for accountable leadership. He said people were increasingly aware and were keen on representatives who remained accessible after elections.
“This election is about trust. Once elected, a representative must continue to stand with the people and not disappear after polling day,” he said.
Assuring transparent functioning, Naik said he would maintain regular interaction with residents and ensure that issues raised by villages were pursued with the administration. He said the Zilla Panchayat should function as an effective link between the people and government departments.
