Finally, the special meeting of the Margao Municipal Council scheduled on March 28 will take a call on the acceptance of bids received from the two bidders for door-to-door waste collection, Ms Green Globe Self Help Group and Bapu Environmental Social Service Organisation.
After completing the tendering process, the MMC had forwarded to the Chief Project Officer, Goa State Urban Development Agency (GSUDA) for opinion in respect of the bids submitted by these two agencies, which coincidentally constitute the existing door-to-door garbage collection contractors engaged by the civic body.
GSUDA Chief Project Officer however has informed the civic body that the Council is empowered to take the decision with respect of the acceptance of the tender. The proposal has been placed at the March 28 special council meeting on the ground that the agencies are fulfilling the criteria required for acceptance.
