As the sewage odour in the locality has failed to abate, residents living near the Damodar Sal Temple on Abade Faria Road have questioned the failure of the authorities to address an issue that has plagued the area for several days.

City-based lawyer Adv Showmik Pai Angle said that local residents have been enduring sleepless nights due to the unbearable sewage stench emanating from the storm water drain over the past few days. Despite repeated complaints to the authorities, Angle said the situation on the ground has shown no improvement.

He added that residents have been left with no option but to live with the nuisance, through no fault of their own. “When local residents make representations to the concerned authorities, the least that is expected is for officials to contact the complainants and inquire into the issue,” he said, while questioning how long residents are expected to suffer the ordeal.

“We have made a simple demand”identify the source of the sewage flowing into the storm water drain and stop the discharge. An inquiry is essential, especially since most households in the locality have proper sewage connections. We hope the authorities will finally address the issue,” he said.
