The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted extremely heavy rainfall at isolated places on Wednesday while issuing an orange alert for the day.
The Met department has also forecasted heavy to very heavy rainfall at a few places from July 6 to 8.
According to the IMD, a number of systems were developing in the Bay of Bengal including an off-shore trough at mean sea level which runs from south Gujarat to Kerala coast which could have a positive impact on the rainfall.
The State received an average rainfall of 47.3 mm on Tuesday further reducing the seasonal deficit to 10.7 percent.
Fishermen have been warned not to venture out into the sea even as winds are expected to be gusty, peaking from 40 to 45 kmph to 55 kmph.
