In a joint effort, the Panaji and Hyderabad police on Friday nabbed two persons from Hyderabad on charges of stealing valuables and Rs 1.60 lakh cash from a house in Taleigao.The accused are identified as Ramesh Kumar and Jitendra Kumar alias Jittu, both aged 26 years had fled to Hyderabad after executing the crime. The police teams recovered 55 gms of gold out of the total valuables they stole from the house of businessman Satishkumar Rajpurohit.
Ramesh, hailing from Rajasthan, was employed with the victim. He connived with Jittu, a native of South Delhi to break open the wooden cupboard and decamp with cash, and gold and silver ornaments on November 5.
The Panaji police informed that call details showed the accused persons’ presence in Hyderabad after which they contacted their counterparts seeking assistance. A team was sent to the neighbouring southern state where a joint operation led to the arrest of the thieves and partial recovery of the stolen goods.
