Sleeping under a JCB proved a fatal mistake for a man when he was crushed to death by the JCB at Nagoa-Bardez late Saturday evening.
According to reports, the incident took place at about 7.30 pm when Prashant Pawar (30), a daily wage worker from Karnataka but residing at Viegaswada-Arpora was asleep underneath the JCB at Sandip garage.
The JCB driver Rajendra Shirodkar (38) of Daiswada-Nagoa started the JCB and set it in motion, unaware that Pawar was asleep under the JCB.
Pawar was crushed and was rushed to the GMC hospital, where he breathed his last while undergoing treatment.
Anil Pawar, brother of the deceased, later lodged a complaint at the Anjuna police station and acting on the complaint, Anjuna police arrested the JCB driver. A Mapusa court later released him on bail. Further investigations are in progress.
