The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted light to moderate rainfall at many places in the State in the next four days from Aug 29 to Sept 1.
The weather department has also issued a yellow alert warning of thunder showers accompanied with lightning and winds gusting to 40 kmph very likely at isolated places from Aug 30 to Sept 1.
“Goa is expected to witness thunder storm accompanied with lightning and gusty winds from Aug 30 to Sept 1 due to changes in the wind pattern in the lower levels of the atmosphere,” senior IMD official, Rahul Mohan said.
However, there is no warning issued for fishermen along the Maharashtra-Goa coastline for the next four days.
Although there has been rather widespread light to moderate rainfall, the State has witnessed deficit rainfall in August. The deficit is around 9 percent below the normal average.
On Sunday, Panaji city recorded a maximum temperature of 30.2 degrees Celsius while the minimum temperature settled at 24.7 degrees Celsius. The relative humidity in the city was at 92 per cent.
