One person was arrested and 3 kg of ganja worth Rs 3 lakh was seized from him in Calangute, police informed.
The accused has been identified as Imran Hange (23), who is currently residing in Saligao.
Calangute Police received information that a male wearing a black coloured T-shirt and same coloured pants would be visiting a spot at Porbovaddo, Calangute on Friday to deliver a narcotic substance to a prospective customer.
“Acting on the specific information, we laid a trap and apprehended the accused who came on a Royal Enfield bike at the spot. After searching we found ganja weighing 3 kg in his possession,” a police official informed.
“The accused has been remanded to police custody and an investigation is on to find the source of the narcotic drug,” the officer added.
While PSI Rajaram Bagkar has filed a complaint on illegal possession of narcotic drugs, LPSI Reema Naik has registered an offence against the accused under the NDPS Act 1985.
Further investigation is in progress under the supervision of Calangute PI Laxi Amonkar, under the overall supervision of SDPO Porvorim, Vishwesh Karpe and SP North Shobhit Saksena (IPS).
