Panaji bags Cleanest City title at Swachh Survekshan Awards 2024-25

PANAJI: President of India Droupadi Murmu presented the award for the Cleanest City in the 50,000 to 2 lakh population category to Panaji at the Swachh Survekshan Awards 2024-25 ceremony held at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi today. Urban Development Minister Vishwajit Rane, along with CCP Mayor Rohit Monserrate and CCP Commissioner Clen Madeira, accepted the award on behalf of the city.

Rane described the recognition as a “moment of immense pride” for Goa, calling it a validation of the sustained efforts and transformative initiatives undertaken under the Swachh Bharat Mission.

“This recognition is not just an award, it is a validation of the work put in through door-to-door waste collection, the Garbage-Free City certification, and the scientific treatment of waste. Panaji has set a benchmark in urban cleanliness,” Rane stated in a post on X.

He thanked Chief Minister Pramod Sawant for his leadership and support, and extended special appreciation to Mayor Rohit Monserrate for his “dedication and proactive efforts” in ensuring strict garbage segregation across the city.

Rane also acknowledged the collective efforts of Panaji’s residents, sanitation workers, and all stakeholders who made the achievement possible. “Together, we move forward with renewed determination to build a sustainable and Swachh Goa, aligned with the vision of a Viksit Bharat,” he said.
