MAPUSA
Three panchas and a former sarpanch of the Moira panchayat have appealed to the electricity department at Mapusa to repair, maintain and replace the damaged street lights in the village.
The panch members, Mahesh Satelkar, Puja Chari, Suryakant Bhatlekar, and former sarpanch Santosh Chari also discussed the problems in detail with the electricity department assistant engineer Chandrakant Aroskar.
Requesting him to instal LED street lamps in Wards 2, 3, 6 and 7, they said residents had been inconvenienced on account of darkness in the area and added that the problem would be worse during the forthcoming Ganesh Chaturthi festival.
"People are upset with panchayat members as the government has not repaired these street lights,” said Satelkar.
“At times, panchas have been compelled to repair these street lights by paying Rs 200 per lamp from their own pockets. This problem has been persisting since the last four years," Satelkar said.
