MARGAO
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi skirted the issue of Goa’s liberation raised by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, charging the latter for raking up an issue in order to distract the burning issues plaguing Goa.
He also refused to join the issue of hijab in Karnataka, saying he does not want to lose focus on the issues facing Goa. When asked to comment on PM Modi’s statement demanding to know why former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru had delayed Goa’s liberation by 15 years, Rahul shot back saying the PM is trying to divert attention of Goans from the issues plaguing Goa.
Other than saying that the PM does not quite understand the history of those times in detail, Rahul said the PM is trying to run away from the issue of jobs and unemployment in Goa. “The fact of the matter is that the Freedom fighters and academicians have commented on these issues,” he added.
‘Cong CM will be the one who listen to voice of people’
MARGAO: The Congress may have not unveiled the name of its Chief Ministerial candidate yet, but party national leader Rahul Gandhi on Friday said the Congress Chief Minister will not be a raza (king), but a person who will listen to the voice of the people.
“Our Chief Minister will not be a raza, but a person who will listen to the voice of the people. I am not saying this in thin air, but we have already shown. You told us no tickets to defectors and we have not given ticket to a single defector”, he said, while addressing a meeting at Curtorim on Friday, Rahul Gandhi said.
