The State government's plan to build a floating jetty-cum-pontoon on the Mandovi river at Chorao which was shelved after a poor response has been revived and the River Navigation Department (RND) has floated the tender again.
The RND has again called for bids to construct the 12-metre wide floating jetty-cum-pontoon at Chorao.
The tender is to design, construct, install and commission the RCC Floating Jetty Pontoon near the Chorao ferry ramp, which is required to have an adequate gangway ladder for access to the mainland.
Jetties and floating jetties have in recent years evoked spontaneous opposition, including from Chorao islanders, over fears that the infrastructure is being set up to facilitate coal transportation.
