The 63 claims from the kin of victims of Covid received in North Goa have been processed and Rs 50,000 ex-gratia under a Central government's scheme and an additional 453 families have got the aid through the State government's social welfare department.
According to the office of the North Goa collector who heads the North District Disaster Management Authority, his office had received 63 claims for the Rs 50,000 ex-gratia and all have been serviced.
The compensation of Rs 50,000 has been deposited in the bank accounts provided by the claimants.
The 453 beneficiaries who got Rs 2-lakh ex-gratia from the State government via the Social Welfare Department, also got the additional Rs 50,000 from the Central scheme, sources in the Collectorate said. The list of beneficiaries was accessed by the Collector's office from the Social Welfare Department and accordingly the ex-gratia aid was disbursed to them directly to the bank accounts.
Totally, under the Central scheme, the North Goa Collectorate has so far cleared 516 claims, disbursing Rs 2.58 crore to families of Covid victims in the district.
Meanwhile, the North Goa Collector's office has urged kin of victims to furnish their claims by accessing the claim form online by logging on to the Collectorate's website northgoa.gov.in or the State government's portal goaonline.gov.in.
The claims have to be submitted to the office of the respective taluka mamlatdars for verification.
