The NCB Mumbai on Wednesday claimed busting major drug syndicate, arresting four including kingpin. While the NCB refused to name any accused, sources said and as reported by The Goan Danish Merchant alias Danish Chikna, a close associate of underworld don Dawood Ibrahim, was arrested from Goa.
In an official statement issued, the NCB said that acting on intelligence, they intercepted a suspect in Pune on Sept 18-19 and seized 502g Mephedrone. Follow-up raids led to recovery of another 839g from the Mumbai home of the kingpin and his wife, bringing the total seizure to 1.341 kg.
After weeks on the run across states, the couple was traced to a Goa resort and arrested on Oct 25.
The kingpin is a habitual offender with 3 prior NDPS cases by NCB and Rajashthan police, and 7 other criminal cases by Mumbai police. He has been declared a Tadipar by Mumbai Police and ordered to stay out of Mumbai municipal jurisdiction.
