Speculation rife GFP may sever ties with NDA

MARGAO
Reports that the Goa Forward Party’s Executive Committee is meeting on Tuesday have raised speculations that the regional party may finally take a call to sever ties with the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA).

Goa Forward Chief Vijai Sardesai, however, in a statement said that he hasn’t seen the media briefing by the group of NGOs and civil society. He added: “But as people who are in the forefront of the struggle to save Goa and also because they have pledged support to our Margao Civic Alliance a few days ago, we will examine their demand”.

Though the Goa Forward ministers, including Sardesai, were all dropped by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant in July 2019, party Chief Sardesai did not rush to quit the NDA, only saying the regional party will sever ties with the BJP-led Alliance at the appropriate time.
