Water Resources Department (WRD) Minister Filipe Neri Rodrigues became the first Minister in the BJP-led government to descend on the Margao battlefield for the ensuing elections for the Margao
civic body.
The Congress-turned-BJP MLA, who made his presence felt in ward 7 for the office opening of BJP-backed Vibrant Margao candidate Milagrina Gomes, appealed to the people to vote and elect Vibrant Margao candidates saying the panel has the backing of the government to deliver the goods.
He told the people that unless there is government backing, the aspirations and needs of the people cannot be taken forward. Filipe Neri recalled that he was in the opposition, but decided to join the BJP to usher in the development of his constituency.
Reminding that his WRD department has undertaken desilting of the river Sal at the cost of Rs 16 crore, Filipe Neri said this is one of the achievements of the BJP-led government as far as the people of Fatorda and Margao are concerned.
Vibrant Margao Chairman and former BJP MLA Damu Naik dared Goa Forward chief Vijai Sardesai to at least name one project which has been initiated in the constituency in the last 10 years.
He publicly declared that the BJP is supporting the candidature of Milagrina in ward 7 while making an appeal to the people not to believe in rumours that the party is supporting some other candidate.
