The multiple and opposing voices in the government on whether the controversial 'Sunburn' electronic dance music (EDM) festival will be on or off have begun to echo.
A day after the EDM's franchiese began advertising the event on social media, Cabinet Minister Michael Lobo claimed the approval to Sunburn "conditional" and co-relates to the Covid-19 situation in Goa in December.
Lobo, who represents tourism dependent Calangute and himself is heavily invested in the trade, also said more important than the Sunburn EDM is the hospitality sector which has just begun to pick up.
"We want the tourism business which is slowly restarting now, to continue,” Lobo said.
Every year as December approaches, multiple quarters in the State government speak in different voices on the question of granting permissions to the controversial yet successful EDM.
Last year, Lobo and Deputy Chief Minister Manohar Ajgaonkar were locked in a prolonged verbal duel on the question of granting permissions to the organisers.
