Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Monday said the decision when to re-open physical classes in schools will be announced by Wednesday.
Sawant who also holds the education portfolio said consultations with school managements and other stakeholders, including various Parent-Teacher Associations (PTAs) have concluded.
The decision whether or not to re-open schools or when to do so will be announced either on Tuesday or Wednesday, he added.
There has been a difference of opinion in the parents, teachers, headmaster association, school management, educationist, and other stakeholders with regards to whether schools can be started soon.
Earlier last week, the Education Department had issued an order curtailing the Diwali and Christmas vacations in schools to make up for instructional hours loss due to the pandemic.
Meanwhile, the All Goa Secondary School Teachers Association has expressed its displeasure and dissatisfaction over curtailment of Diwali and Christmas vacations.
"We hereby like to bring to your kind notice that, the issue of working days does not arise as, we are on duty in school since 4th of June 2020 and also contrary to the MHA guidelines you had directed all teachers to remain present in schools right from day 1. The teachers are entitled for the vacation as unlike other employees the teachers are neither entitled for 30 days of Earned Leave nor for any sick leave," the teachers association have said in a letter to the Director of Education.
