Goa Miles Chief Operating Officer Hament Prabhudesai has said the taxi aggregator has heard the apprehensions raised by the tourists taxi operators along Salcete coastal belt, promising to work out an amicable solution.
He further said the aggregator will try to take the Goencho Taxi Patrao scheme to the nook and corner of the state so that the youth take advantage of the scheme.
Interacting with the media after the meeting at the Colva police station, Prabhudesai said the meeting discussed several issues, which has helped both sides to understand the issues better.
“Since there were apprehensions raised by the Benaulim MLA and the tourist taxi operators, we will try and work out an amicable solution”, he said.
Meanwhile, Colva police station in-charge, PI Theron D’Costa has warned that the police would come down heavily if there’s law and order situation arising out of the battle for the tourism taxi business.
Saying that he had called for a meeting of the tourist taxi stakeholders ahead of the new tourism season to ensure they resolve their issues, PI Theron said he has made it very clear to all the sides not to take the law in their hands and ensure that the guests does not suffer.
“The meeting was called for better understanding between the tourist taxi operators and the Goa Miles representatives so that the visitors do not suffer. I have given clear instructions to both sides to ensure smooth movement of the taxis with the guests since everyone has the equal right to ply a taxi”, the PI said.
