Two more Covid deaths recorded, toll reaches 786

Two more Covid-related deaths were recorded in the mortality bulletin of the Directorate of Health Services on Wednesday raising the total Covid deaths in the State to 786.

The deceased persons include a 45-year-old man from Navelim and an 89-year-old woman from Aldona. Both deaths occurred at Goa Medical College and Hospital, Bambolim.

Meanwhile, 46 new cases of the infection were detected from among the 1,625 samples tested in the last 24 hours. With this, the total confirmed cases of Covid-19 in Goa have touched 54,369. Of these, while 509 are currently active, 53,074 have recovered. The recovery rate stands at 97.62 per cent.

Russian saved from ending life at Ashwem

PERNEMA 34-year-old Russian man was rescued while attempting to end his life at Ashwem-Mandrem on Wednesday afternoon.According to reports, Pernem police alerted the fire services that the Russian man was attempting to end his life by jumping off the roof of a house in Ashwem.A fire brigade rushed to the site and pacified the Russian man with the help of his friend. They brought him down and later handed him over to the police.
