Velim MLA Cruz Silva has strongly condemned the atrocities committed against Christians in India.
In a statement, the Velim MLA said such acts of violence and discrimination are not only violations of fundamental human rights but also an attack on the very fabric of our nation’s unity and diversity.
“India has always been celebrated for its pluralism, where people of all faiths live together in mutual respect. Any attempt to undermine this harmony must be opposed with courage and clarity”, he said.
He added: “Christians, like every other community, have contributed immensely to the progress of our society”through education, health care, social service, and cultural enrichment. To target them is to weaken the values of compassion and service that strengthen our nation”.
The Aam Aadmi Party MLA has called upon the authorities to ensure justice, protect the vulnerable, and uphold the constitutional guarantee of freedom of religion. No citizen should ever live in fear because of their faith.
“As a representative of the people, I reaffirm my solidarity with the Christian community and with all those who face persecution. Together, we must stand united against hatred and violence, and work tirelessly to preserve peace, dignity, and equality for every Indian”, he added.
