Vijai welcomes Congress-AAP pact, wants strong candidate from oppn

MARGAO
Goa Forward Chief Vijai Sardesai stated on Thursday that the seat-sharing agreement between the Congress and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is a positive development, but he added that it should have occurred sooner.

"The alliance between the Congress and AAP is a positive step, although it should have happened earlier. However, the Congress still needs to announce its candidate. The Congress candidate must be strong," he told the media after laying the foundation stone for a futsal ground in ward no. 9 of the Margao Municipal Council at Marlem-Borda on Thursday.

"It's already late. The Congress candidate should be formidable, as South Goa is a significant constituency," he added.

Sardesai also criticised the Revolutionary Goans and the district authorities for allowing the regional party to put up posters in the Fatorda constituency ahead of the Lok Sabha polls.

"How is the Revolutionary Goans party allowed to put up posters when it clearly defaces properties? We will not tolerate such actions in Fatorda. I urge the district authorities to take action, or else I will be compelled to seek justice from a higher authority," he stated.

Sardesai questioned whether the BJP government permitted the Revolutionary Goans to deface public property in the hopes of splitting the anti-BJP votes in South Goa in the upcoming polls.
