OLD GOA
The villagers of Santa Cruz have chided the attitude of the GPPDA officials for not sending its representative to the gram sabha and instead asking villagers to approach its office for clarification on ODP.
“On one hand the government is talking about taking governance to the doorsteps of the people and on the other there is GPPDA which refuses to send its officials to attend a gram sabha to answer public queries,” a villager chided.
The Goan was informed that the special gram sabha organised by the Santa Cruz panchayat on Sunday was initially called so that officials from GPPDA could explain to the villagers on the need to include parts of Santa Cruz in Bambolim ODP.
However, the panchayat got the reply from GPPDA that no official will remain present for the gram sabha and that if the villagers want any clarification on the issue could approach the GPPDA during office hours.
When questioned by The Goan, sarpanch Namdev Naik confirmed that the gram sabha was called out so that the GPPDA officials could explain the ODP to the villagers and answer their queries. “But we got the reply that the villagers could approach the office of the GPPDA for any clarification,” Naik added.
