Vision document to focus on promoting agro tourism

A Vision Document 2030 to Make Goa Self-Reliant in Agriculture drafted by the ICAR-Central Coastal Agricultural Research Institute will be finally implemented in the State almost four years after it was released in 2021.

The announcement was made by the Chief Minister Pramod Sawant in the State Budget 2025-26. Sawant said that the Vision document will be implemented with focus on promoting agro tourism in the hinterland areas.

The government has made a provision of Rs 10 crore for the implementation of the ‘State Amritkal Agriculture Policy 2025’, which was passed by the State cabinet last month.

Sawant said that the first phase of the Centre of Excellence for Agriculture set up at Codar- Ponda with a focus on cultivation of high-valued vegetables and exotic flowers would be commissioned from March 2025. The centre is being set up in collaboration with the Israeli government.

He also announced the establishment of Goa Cashew Board and Goa Bamboo Board for promotion of bamboo and cashew.

PANAJIChief Minister Pramod Sawant on Wednesday announced the e-auction of nine more iron ore mining leases.Presenting the State Budget 2025-26, Sawant said that the State has so far e-auctioned a total 12 mineral blocks consisting of 24 mining leases.
