Amidst all the gloom, there is a ray of hope as the State government has assured steps to augment water supply at the Assonora treatment plant.
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant while presenting the 2022-23 Budget had said that the government will commission a 30-mld water treatment plant at Assonora in this financial year.
But the big question was how soon this treatment plant will be commissioned. And will the people of Mapusa have to suffer till then?
Former PWD Minister (Sudin Dhavalikar) who had been at the helm of the PWD for several terms in different governments made several assurances in the past including the promise to ensure 24x7 water supply but failed to live up to the expectations.
