Goa Forward Party’s Fatorda candidate Vijai Sardesai on Thursday visited Madel for his second round of campaigning.
He said that one of his immediate top priorities, once the Cong-GFP alliance is in power, is gainful employment for local youth. He advised youngsters that they should not depend only on government jobs and promised to initiate projects so that Goan youngsters get well-paid jobs in the private sector.
“I have planned to set up an Information Technology and Information Technology Enabled Services hub in Madel. Here local entrepreneurs will be given all help and encouraged to set up enterprises providing self-employment for them and employment to local qualified youth. I am ready to even shift the wholesale fish market outside Fatorda, if land is not available elsewhere. In any case, the wholesale fish market, which is an opportunity for corruption, only brings stink and pollution to Fatorda. No local residents are benefited in any way,” he said.
Further, he added, “I feel employment opportunities have to be generated for our youth in Fatorda. The IT and ITES industry is ideal for Goa, as it is clean and non-polluting. I will also ensure that necessary skill development centres are also set up in Fatorda to make our youngsters qualified to work in the IT/ITES industry.”
