Bike-taxi pilots seek restart of aid schemes

Goa's unique motorcycle pilots who have seen incomes hit zero with the pandemic have petitioned Chief Minister Pramod Sawant to revive and restart their welfare packages. 

Representatives of the Motorcycle Pilots Association asked that the monthly financial aid of Rs 2,000 to pilots above 50 years be restarted in a video conference with Sawant who is in Delhi. 

Sawant on his part said that by January next, the scheme will be restarted. 

The association also submitted a representation listing other demands, including subsidy to replace their ageing vehicles and other packages in view of the pandemic affecting their livelihood.
