In a unique protest on World Environment Day, members of the Goa Pradesh Youth Congress (GPYC) planted saplings in potholes along the damaged roads of Sancoale to highlight poor infrastructure and seek urgent government action. Led by GPYC Working President Mahesh Nadar, the protest drew attention to dust, potholes, water shortages, and road safety risks, especially along the major district road affected by the ongoing Dabolim flyover project.

Nadar criticised the government, Cortalim MLA Anton Vas, and the Sancoale Panchayat for ignoring the issue. He cited a fatal bus accident caused by potholes and accused the contractor of neglecting safety norms. Nadar demanded the deployment of traffic police, proper signage, lighting, and accountability from the contractor for waterlogging and drainage damage. “These saplings are a warning,” he said, vowing to continue the protest until MES College junction. Locals widely supported the initiative, praising the creative approach to exposing negligence.
