The National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) Goa unit on Thursday held a protest outside the Education Department office, strongly condemning its directions to schools to create a year-long awareness on Samvidhan Hatya Diwas, as the country observes 50 years of imposition of Emergency in India on June 25, 1975.
NSUI led by its president Naushad Chowdhari led the protest. The protestors were stopped by the police at the office gate and were not allowed to barge inside to meet the Director.
However, after much hurdle, the delegation was allowed to meet Director of Education Shailesh Zingade.
Speaking to the media, Chowdhari accused the BJP-led government of "misusing government machinery to play dirty politics and spread venom in educational institutions".
He said that the students are innocent and have no linkage to any political party. “Hence, BJP should stop playing dirty politics through these students,” he said.
