Sao Jose de Areal reported a murder late Sunday night after a native of Jharkhand was done to death following a brawl in a bar.
The 37-year-old deceased, identified as Rajiv Mahoto died after he was attacked with a sharp weapon consisting of a broken bottle. He was assaulted on the throat and face, resulting in his death.
The Maina Curtorim police was quick to nab the accused, 35-year-old Sham Naik, a resident of Davorlim in connection with the murder.
Sub-divisional Police officer, Margao DySP Santosh Desai informed that the accused, a driver by occupation and the deceased, who is working in a scrapyard at Nessai, were drinking at a local bar in Areal on Sunday evening.
After a brawl over some petty matter, including the fact that the deceased is a migrant from outside the State, the accused allegedly attacked him on his throat and face with a broken bottle.
The deceased sustained grievous injuries resulting in his death.
The police has arrested the accused under section 302 of the IPC. Further investigation is being carried out by Maina Curtorim PI Arun Desai.
