PANAJI: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Saturday said a detailed police investigation was underway into a fake letter circulating in Goa bearing the forged signature of former Excise Commissioner and IAS Officer Ashwin Chandru.
Addressing the media after the Cabinet meeting, Sawant urged citizens to verify government notices and orders through official channels instead of accepting them without checking their authenticity. “It is truly unfortunate to see educated people falling prey to these scams. Graduates, post-graduates and even people who have previously worked in government service are getting duped,” the Chief Minister said.
Sawant said the police were investigating the case to trace everyone linked to the racket. He added that steps would be taken to attach or confiscate properties acquired illegally by those involved in the fraud.
The Chief Minister appealed to citizens to remain vigilant and verify suspicious communications with the concerned government departments.
