Mapusa police will deploy additional police teams and will setp up night patrolling in Ganeshpuri area of Mapusa, following a series of burglaries in the area.
Police officials gave these assurances while interacting with residents of Ganeshpuri at the Ganesh Temple in Ganeshpuri on Friday evening. SP Harishchandra Madkaikar, SP Vishwesh Karpe, Police Inspector Naveen Desai, PSI Ajay Dhuri and PSI Pandhari Chopdekar, as well as Ganeshpuri Residents Society President Ashish Shirodkar and Secretary Dattaram Bicholkar were among those present at the meeting.
During the meeting, residents expressed concern and anger over the increase in burglaries in the area.
They claimed that despite reporting the registration numbers of suspicious vehicles to the police, no concrete action has been taken. They also stated that abandoned vehicles were not being removed and there is a lack of safety and security in the area.
After patiently listening to the complaints of residents, police officials suggested a number of measures to boost security in the area.
They advised residents to install burglar alarms in their houses, and ensure that CCTV cameras and street lights are always on. They also suggested that residents should not leave valuables at homes when they are away for a considerable time.
Police officials also requested residents to ensure that mandatory police verification of tenants, paying guests and domestic workers are completed immediately.
From their side, police officials stated that additional police teams will be deployed in the Ganeshpuri area during the day, while night patrolling will also be increased.
Police appealed to residents to contact the emergency number 112 in case any suspicious person or thing is found, adding that a police team will reach the site in about 8-10 minutes and provide immediate help.
