The Post Master General Goa Region P N Ranjit Kumar urged the State government to take initiative to release a special postage stamp on renowned architect Charles Correa.
“It is in the domain of the State to suggest names to the central government. The State government can consider proposing to the central government to have a stamp in honour of Charles Correa”, he said.
“Today postage stamp is considered to be major honour the country bestows upon its eminent sons. Postage stamps are paper ambassadors. So when a stamp is released on Charles Correa, it will travel on letters all over the world. In that way, work and contribution of Charles Correa will get recognition”, he said.
The Government of India has a philatelic programme under which postage stamps are released throughout the year to commemorate various occasions and to honour individuals.
