CANACONA
A youth was killed while two others were injured when a two-wheeler met with an accident at Gaondongrim-Canacona in the wee hours of Monday.
According to Canacona police, a motorcycle rammed into a roadside tree at Karvem-Gaondongrim at about 1 am.
Pundalik Kakade (20), a native of Hubballi-Karnataka but residing at New-Vaddo, Bhatpal, died, while two other pillion riders Rohit Naik (19) of Ponsulem-Canacona and Ganesh Dodamani (26) of Moital-Shristhal were seriously injured and are recovering in a hospital.
Police said the mishap took place when the three were returning on the motorcycle after dropping their companion and his motorcycle at Gaondongrim.
All four reportedly travelled on two motorbikes to drop one of their friends who was uncomfortable to ride alone back home at odd hours.
Canacona police said on their way back, the deceased, Pundalik Kakade, was the rider, while Rohit Naik was seated in the middle and Ganesh Dodamani was seated at the back. The rider lost control at a turn and the motorcycle hit a roadside tree.
According to Canacona PI Chandrakant Gawas, the body was later handed over to relatives after an autopsy.
