1 labourer held for knife attack on 2 co-workers at Tivim

A labourer from Chhattisgarh was apprehended by Colvale police on Tuesday on charges of assaulting two co-workers with a knife at Raj Housing Board Colony in Tivim the previous day.

According to police reports, the accused, Prem Sagar Bhagat (21), and the two victims, Sumit Tapavo (from Chhattisgarh) and Tanaji Pathan (from Belagavi), are employed and reside at the same construction site.

An altercation between Bhagat and Tapavo reportedly ensued over paddy brought for meals.

On the day of the incident, the accused, the two victims, and another individual were gathered to consume alcohol when Bhagat and Tapavo engaged in another dispute.

Bhagat is alleged to have assaulted Tapavo with a knife. He also purportedly attacked Pathan, who came to Tapavo’s assistance.

Subsequently, the accused fled from the scene, and the injured were transported to the hospital.

Colvale police have filed a case against Bhagat under Section 324 of the IPC, and he was apprehended on Tuesday.

Colvale PSI Subhash Gawkar is spearheading further investigations.
