Ten cases of suspected dengue have been reported at two health centres in Ponda taluka in August.
While the Ponda health centre recorded seven suspected cases of dengue, the Shiroda Primary Health Centre has reported three suspected cases.
Since January, there have been 17 suspected cases of dengue recorded at the Ponda health centre, with the month of August recording the highest number of cases.
Three dengue cases recorded at the Shiroda health centre pertained to patients working in other parts of the State and it is suspected that they may have contracted the disease elsewhere.
In a bid to control dengue cases, the health centres in Ponda taluka have been engaged in various measures, which include fumigation drives at various places and awareness campaigns.
Ponda Health Officer Dr Smita Parsekar has appealed to people to take preventive measures to prevent the spread of dengue.
