PANAJI
These jetties are proposed at Ribandar, Old Goa, Banastarim, Borim, Shiroda, Durbhat, Cortalim, Piligaon, Aldona and Chapora. These also include extension of Captain of Ports jetty at Panaji.
The new jetties are being constructed as some jetties are old and in dilapidated condition, which makes them unsafe for people. The construction of new jetties will give a huge boost to inland water transport infrastructure in the state.
Parrikar also informed that four floating jetties, under 50:50 central government funding scheme, are proposed in the State.
These include extension of Captain of Ports jetty at Panaji and Old Goa, jetty opposite of Dempo House Panaji (Mandovi River) and jetty in Chapora River at west side of the Siolim - Chopdem bridge.
It is also reported that three new jetties are equipped with fire fighting system to make them safer.
