130 Olive Ridley hatchlings released at Morjim beach

Forest department staff released 130 Olive Ridley hatchlings into the sea at Morjim beach on Tuesday.

According to sources, a total of 152 Olive Ridley turtles have laid over 15,500 eggs at Morjim between December 24, 2024 and March 11, of which 791 hatchlings have earlier been released into the sea, while 130 hatchlings were released on Tuesday.

Speaking on the occasion, Morjim Sarpanch Pawan Morje said the Olive Ridley campaign has been successfully implemented till date, largely due to the cooperation of locals, fishermen, activists and the government.
