The much-anticipated demolition of 25 illegal houses and structures at ‘Lala ki Basti’ in Auchit-Vaddo, Tivim, is unlikely to take place soon, with no clear timeline for its execution.
Despite official notices being issued, the action has yet to be carried out, and Wednesday seems an improbable date for the operation. The Administrator of Comunidades (North), Pandurang Gad, had served demolition notices to the residents two weeks ago, instructing them to vacate the premises.
The demolition was scheduled to occur any time after March 11, but various factors appear to have delayed its execution.
Local politicians, who have reportedly gained electoral support from the occupants of these illegal structures, are actively working to prevent the demolition.

Additionally, an appeal has been made to the top level of the government, requesting a delay in demolition activities until the conclusion of the Ramadhan festival.
Given that a majority of the residents belong to the minority community, sources indicate that the request might be considered by the government.
Despite the notices issued, law enforcement agencies in Bardez have yet to receive formal instructions regarding the demolition.
The absence of clear directives from higher authorities has added to the uncertainty surrounding the matter.
Meanwhile, life at ‘Lala ki Basti’ remains unchanged, with residents appearing unperturbed by the looming threat to their homes.
Daily activities continue as usual, as uncertainty over the demolition persists.
