PORVORIM: Stating that construction of the 15 MLD water reservoir for Porvorim has already been completed, former minister and Porvorim MLA Rohan Khaunte has said work to construct a water treatment plant adjacent to the water reservoir has begun.
Khaunte was speaking to reporters after inspecting the water reservoir behind police quarters in Porvorim along with Water Resources Department (WRD) Chief Engineer S T Nadkarni and Executive Engineer P Badami.
Khaunte discussed with the WRD officials about public amenities to be developed near the water reservoir.
“The pump house to pump water from Guirim to Porvorim has been constructed near the Guirim Junction and water pipelines from Guirim to Porvorim have also been laid,” said Khaunte.
“The WRD has been advised to provide public amenities such as an Amphi-Theatre with seating arrangements, a small park for children to play and a separate area for senior citizens.”
“Once all these public amenities are developed and beautification of this entire place is done, this site will be a recreational spot and an added attraction for the residents of Porvorim.”
“The WRD has been advised to complete these works by the first week of December so that these amenities are made available to people by the second week of December,” the MLA added.
